Colours of Nature

Our focus is on abstract landscape photography. By combining different approaches and interpretations of different artists, but also by using different materials, we try to give a new view of what already exists in nature. Through the abstraction achieved with photographic techniques, the images lead us away from what is actually depicted, but at the same time intensify our view of the altered rendering of nature, which reveals itself anew, above all through an unrestrained play of colors. The examination thus takes place primarily with the colors and forms of landscapes, which shift our view of our surroundings into other spheres.

Works by Romy Pfeifer, Fine Art Photography, will be exhibited in combination with works by the artist duo f/two, Fine Art Photography. In addition, we are showing works by the artist Patrick Rapp, HolzArt, as well as furniture objects by Daniel Ruprecht - Design, which together form a harmoniously newly created unit in terms of visuality.

The various elements and colors in nature are reinterpreted in their diversity on the basis of our own perception. The exhibition "Colors of Nature" shows above all interpretations of the elements wood/forest, ice/glacier, stone and water. Also on display are abstract photographs of the ice grotto of the Rhone Glacier, taken for this exhibition.

Works from this large and highly acclaimed "Water Lilies Series" series are now on display in Andermatt.

The artist succeeds in an impressive way in bringing the beauty of nature with the most diverse moods onto canvas. For Lorenz Spring, the creation of the world and nature in general is an important theme. With his own realisation of Claude Monet's "Nymphéas", the artist has added a milestone to his already highly regarded oeuvre.

Robert Bösch, photographer, geographer, mountain guide, has been working as a freelance professional photographer for about 40 years. In addition to assignments from industry and advertising, he has worked for renowned national and international journals and magazines, such as National Geographic, Geo, Stern.  He has published numerous illustrated books. Robert Bösch is an ambassador for the Nikon company.

As an alpinist, his travels and expeditions have taken him to all seven continents, climbing difficult routes and the highest mountains. For a photo and film assignment he climbed Mount Everest.

In recent years Robert Bösch has been intensively engaged in art photography. His pictures were exhibited in galleries and museums at home and abroad. Robert Bösch published many exclusive art picture books.

Even though the mountains play an important role in his work, he is not interested in the mountain, but in the picture. He describes himself as a picture seeker - whether in the mountains or in a big city, whether by the sea or next to a road. For Robert Bösch, photography is the art of seeing the picture, which is at the same time the art of omission: the picture only becomes a picture because the before and after and the trappings are omitted. "Pictures are like quotes taken out of context," says Robert Bösch.

"It's not the eye-catching motifs that are the interesting ones; rather, it's the images that are covered up, that are hidden in the whole and that you have to discover. They are images that I only give an existence with my camera."

About the exhibition:

In addition to landscape shots from the Andermatt region, many motifs show moments that the photographer has discovered while being on the road somewhere on this planet.

A different, new visual world is shown by the images from his latest work NOT SEEN. These have to do with photography only at first sight. They are experimental image creations.

Myriam Arnelas

In my current works I intend to depict snapshots and memories by assimilating the different atmospheres and trying to capture them in painting. Detached from the representationalism of my earlier works, I combine elements of nature and body shapes on large canvases.  As a result, atmospheric compositions emerge which tend to evoke landscapes. The forms are soft and flowing, sometimes translucent and overlapping, analogous to the gentle changes of perception. It is an attempt to increment the sensuality of our perception, in a protected space, where the boundaries between people and nature merge.

Patrick Rapp - holzArt

About holzArt

In my objects, I try to respond to the wood through a simple design and to bring out the beauty that lies in each piece. I find it exciting to leave the final shape of wet turned objects to the wood through the warping in the drying process. In this way, the wood becomes a co-designer - and my objects become holzArt. Often it is the so-called wood defects that turn an object into a work of art. The wood thus shows us its history, which we do not know, but may see. It is up to me to recognize the hidden work of art and make it visible.

I make bowls up to 90 cm in diameter, vessels, natural edge objects, balls, etc., but also special customer requests I like to implement.

Group exhibition "SUMMER FEELINGS

EUGENIA A. BURGO /MICHAËL LUCERNE /SHAHRIAR AHMADI /OTGO /HELE/ JJ FRANK

Exhibition : 13 to 28 August 2022 ART87 Gallery in Andermatt

Opening hours :

Friday, Saturday, Sunday: 13 to 18 and by appointment: 079 69 805 69.

After the highly acclaimed exhibition A WORLD BEYOND with OTGO and the group of works VOM URNERSEE ZUM GOTTAHRD, created by Bruno Müller-Meyer especially for Gallery ART87, Leupi-Art/Heidi Leupi presents the group exhibition SUMMER FEELINGS, the last exhibition this summer at Gallery ART87 in Andermatt.

Eugenia A. Burgo focuses on small sections of nature, details from the botanical world and zooms them into powerful statements in her paintings. Eugenia A. Burgo's works cleverly play with our perception. The massive enlargement holds the gaze captive. The intense colors, the suggestive erotic forms and a play of light and shadow have a seductive effect. The large images are neither delicate nor dainty, sometimes rather loud and powerful. Nevertheless, they touch intimate, very fine feelings, to which we give little space in our everyday life. With her exaggerated realism, the artist creates a counterpoint to the distorted images of a world as the media reflect it for us. Her works penetrate deep into our subconscious and thus create a balance in our emotional world.

Swiss-American artist Eugenia A. Burgo lives and works in Zurich and since 1992 has presented her extensive body of work to a wide audience in numerous exhibitions in various European countries, Japan, the United States and Arab countries.

The interplay of his versatile way of working as well as his lifestyle and the personality associated with it form an individual world in which Michaël Lucerne moves freely. He does not limit himself to one art form per se, he is equally engaged in sculpture, design and graphics. The focus of his work is primarily motifs such as the human body and its expressive artistic implementation. Driven by the beautiful, his art goes beyond the edge of the canvas. He himself does not see his task in depicting the gloomy sides of life. Rather, he sees himself as a mediator of carefree dreams.

Michaël Lucerne is a Swiss painter and object artist with French roots, he lives and works in France. In numerous exhibitions he was able to make his works accessible to a large international audience.

After his successful and highly acclaimed exhibition in June at the gallery ART87 Andermatt, the Mongolian artist OTGO is represented in this group exhibition with a very special work. OTGO who loves animals, nature and people created the group of works "Penguins" in 2015 - the only painting still available is now exhibited at Gallery Art87 in Andermatt.

Iranian Shahriar Ahmadi (1979) can count himself among the few outstanding contemporary painters of his generation in the Middle East and Iran. His paintings are characterized by a gestural-expressive painting in which he translates the literary heritage of Persia in a personal-emotional way. In his works, inspired among others by the legendary Sufi mystic Rumi, he explores the emotional and psychological thinking of man. His abstract works on multicolored backgrounds captivate with their rich color and complexity. Often one recognizes the subject only at second glance, but it remains all the more impressive in the memory. Ahmadi's works get close to the viewer. They play with emotions and passions, with joy, longings and with love.

The Swiss artist HELE gets inspiration in everyday life from things that she perceives quite consciously. Observations in old buildings, looking at old facades, crumbling ruins with destroyed images - all this is the basis for abstract image compositions. The works, some of which are sealed with gold leaf, are more artifacts than paintings. Through the deliberate destruction of the morbid surface are clear traces of history, of transience. This results in a very personal visual language of HELE: poetic, delicate, soothing, expressive and unique.

JJ FRANK

The photographer JJ FRANK often deals with small, inconspicuous details of nature. In this exhibition, however, the Swiss photographer shows some interesting views of the Andermatt region. The varied landscape of this region gives a large number of exciting motifs at any time of year, as black and white photographs JJ FRANK shows three expressive views produced as a high-quality acrylic glass picture version.

"From the Lake of Uri to the Gotthard" - Exhibition of the Lucerne artist Bruno Müller-Meyer from July 9 to August 7, 2022 at the ART87 gallery in Andermatt

Exhibition:                                July 9 - August 7, 2022

Alpine Landscapes

Bruno Müller-Meyer of Lucerne is known for his landscape paintings with motifs of Lake Lucerne and the Swiss High Alps. During his studies in Geneva, Müller-Meyer began to explore alpine painting and, as a painter, has since continued to explore this genre in various phases of his work. From July 9 to August 7, 2022, the ART87 Gallery in Andermatt will show his latest paintings with motifs from the Gotthard region. These paintings are presented in such a way that the series of works creates the impression of a journey from the Lake of Uri up to the Oberalp, Gotthard and Furka passes.

Müller-Meyer explains his choice of motif with reference to the trained painter's eye, which is able to recognize very quickly the stimulating elements for a pictorial composition in a motif and is stimulated with regard to the staging of light and shadow as well as the rhythmic interplay of forms and colors. He describes the motif - derived from Latin - as movens, motive, kick and incentive to a painting.

Bruno Müller-Meyer (*1952 in Lucerne) lives and works in Lucerne and St. Niklausen LU. After courses at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Geneva, he studied German, philosophy and art history at the University of Zurich and received his doctorate in 1984 with a thesis on early Romanticism. He co-founded the Kunsthalle Luzern in 1989 and was a lecturer at the Lucerne School of Art and Design until 1999. Active travel and exhibition activity.

Portrait campaign of the ART87 Gallery

On the occasion of the exhibition "Vom Urnersee zum Gotthard" (From the Lake of Uri to the Gotthard) at the ART87 Gallery, Müller-Meyer is working on a portrait project. In a special action he paints portraits of people until about the end of the year, who support the sculpture exhibition ART TRAIL 2023 in Andermatt as patrons by buying their picture. Some of these portraits will be already to be seen in the current exhibition. All successful and sold portraits together will be shown in a next exhibition in Andermatt one day.

Müller-Meyer began drawing portraits in Paris at the end of the 1960s. In 1974/75 he travelled around the world as a portrait painter.  In 1991, his exhibition "Hundert Gönnerporträts für die Kunsthalle Luzern" (One hundred patron portraits for the Lucerne Art Gallery) caused a great stir. In 2000 followed the portrait action and exhibition "100 heads with background" in the Kunsthalle Kornwestheim and then a portrait performance at the Art Cologne Cologne in the gallery Urs Meile, "collector portraits" in the gallery Dos Coimbras in Braga, "Munich Heads" at Galerie Andreas Baumgartl Munich, "Gallery of Beautiful Women" at Lincart Gallery San Francisco, the portrait of Federal Councilor Moritz Leuenberger for the government building of the Canton of Zurich in 2007, and two years later "100 Portraits for Sculpture Switzerland" in Ennetbürgen.

The portrait campaign in Andermatt will be launched in the first half of 2022 and will continue beyond the exhibition period in the fall/winter months. The portraits are 65 x 50 cm in size and painted in oil on canvas; the selling price is CHF 2,500, with the proceeds going to the aforementioned project.

"A WORLD BEYOND"

Solo exhibition with Otgonbayar "OTGO" Ershuu

Opening on Saturday, 11 June 2022 from 3 p.m. onwards

Exhibition until 30 June 2022

OTGO is one of the most important contemporary artists in Mongolia today.  His artworks enchant with a lightness and freshness that are unique. We encounter people and animals that fill the often large surfaces of his paintings in a small-format round dance.  An almost impenetrable painterly network presents itself on the canvas, a thicket of figuration and painterly surface that invites us to take a closer look.

It is hard to grasp with one's eyes what there is to discover, as ever new scenes lead one's gaze across the canvas.

OTGO will set up a temporary studio in the Gallery Art87 during the month of June 2022, which means that visitors will be able to look over the shoulder of the artist as he creates his paintings.

Plan to visit the opening or a longer stay in Andermatt – the place for every nature and culture lover!

OTGO VERNISSAGE

Group Exhibition

SEASON OPENING

Exhibition from Ascension  (26. May 2022) to  Whit Monday (6. June 2022)

Opening Times:

Ascension Day and Whit Monday and Friday to Sunday: 1 p.m. to 6 p.m

and by appointment: 079 69 805 69

Works by national and international artists will be on display in the group exhibition at gallery ART87 in Andermatt at the opening of the summer season, a variety of photographs, paintings, drawings, sculptures and wall objects.

The Japanese Takahide Komatsu shows subtle, small-format works, while his compatriot Toshiya Kobayashi surprises with black floral motifs.

The fusion of nature and body elements in delicate colors dominate the canvas works of the Swiss artist Myriam Arnelas.

Elements from nature are the inspiration for many of HELE's works. The Swiss artist is represented in this exhibition with wall objects and works on canvas.

In the filigree, subtle works of the Iranian artist Ashkan Sanei, the focus is on the human being: drawings that impress.

With expressive and mysterious fragments of nature, the Swiss artist JJ Frank surprises the viewer with his black and white photographic works.

The Swiss sculptor Carlo Bürgi lives and works in Spain. He is represented in the Art87 gallery with a number of wooden sculptures from his group of works »Visio cap endins« for the season opener.

Sources of inspiration for all the artists mentioned above are nature and people. Ultimately, however, what is important is what happens in the eye of the beholder. Which thoughts develop and which own pictures arise in the mind.

The fascination of glass lies in its contradictory nature; in its brittle fragility contrasted against its hard transparent strength. These characteristics and the great sensitivity of the glass raw material when being worked, invites me to express myself in distinctive and minimalist forms. For example, simply the temperature in processing can determine texture and color in unique, non-repeatable ways. A few degrees higher or lower in the firing process can result in a completely new and different work. Or when creating thin glass surfaces, working in the smallest millimeter range, I create a feeling of fragility that almost denies the material’s own existence, but at the same time forcefully demonstrates its immense strength and durability.

Heinz Julen was born and raised in a warm family bond in Zermatt.  Deeply rooted in his homeland, where religion is very important, characterized by a spirituality which gives his works an individual dimension.

Heinz Julen wants to be authentic with his art. Therefore, the question "why?" is always in the room and always remains in the discourse with his creative power but especially with his art.

He doesn't just see himself as a painter, furniture designer, architect, or whatever. For him everything is part of the whole. (cf. Marcel Duchamp).

The room, the picture, the shelf, the chair, etc. are one and grow together in his creation process as a “total work of art”.

An unexpected, deeply touching experience combined with personal encounters and contact with wood carving changed my life in 2016. Since then, logs and chainsaws have become an integral part of my life.

As a counterbalance to my very beautiful and demanding job as an architect, I allow myself a lot of time as a wood sculptor in SAGBAR, with my sawmill. The intellectual as well as creative freedom, pure gut feeling, absolutely only according to your mood and without specifications, to be able to develop limitlessly, is a living dream for me.

Ernestina Abbühl

"structuras alpinas"

Ernestina was born in 1967 and grew up in the Engadine. She has been shaped and fascinated by the alpine environment since childhood.

For many years the artist has been dealing with the subject of the ALPINE and HIGH ALPINE AREA.

She gets her inspiration from tours and excursions in the alpine (cultural) region.

The abstract reliefs reflect the alpine structures and, as the artist calls it, “alpine architecture”. she is interested in the passed, the apparently simple and little perceived.

This magic of creation, which plays multi-faceted in the depths of the natural elements. The immense primal force of alpine nature fills your humanity with gratitude, humility and fascination - as always great rays of light.

SUSTAINABILITY through the use of found materials "objects trouvés" such as various papers (including handmade) and fabrics / cotton from the cultural environment of the alpine regions and their stories.

Paraffin / wax as a means of artistic expression and its specifications such as protection, longevity, value retention, impregnation, preservation.

The use of wax, its important material, is similar to sealing and protecting a valuable treasure.

Margret Achermann

Exhibition

4. September to 17. October 2021

Freitags, Samstags und Sonntags

1:00 to 6:00 pm

From the life of Margret Achermann-Voges

Margret was born on April 3, 1940 as the first child of Margarete and Heinrich Voges in Lüneburg.

Her father was in the war. Towards the end of the war, the mother had to fly alone with her 5-year-old Margret and her 3-year-old brother Klaus von Rügen, where she had been raised by her parents, to the grandparents and relatives to Lüneburg.

During this time the father was lost and was later declared dead. Many years later, Margret was informed by the DRK search service that he had died in Russian captivity.

Margret visited the middle school in Lüneburg and received Zei-chen lessons next to the school. After graduating from high school, she went to the Vocational School for the Precious Metal Industry in Schwäbisch Gmünd for seven semesters. After graduating in 1964, she started her first job in Zurich.

Later, as a goldsmith's manager, she moved to Bucherer to Lucerne. There she also met her husband Sepp Achermann von Rothenburg. On September 1, 1967, they both married and took up residence in Lucerne. Margret continued to work as a goldsmith's manager for many years.

As a married couple, Margret and Sepp bought an old farmhouse. There she found her creative fulfillment in peasant painting. For Margret, it was very important that she always dealt with the relevant topic in detail and thereby acquired in-depth knowledge. She did not have half things or superficial knowledge. During this time Margret Truhen painted cabinets, but also cabinets in the art of peasant painting. She was also active as a course leader in this area.  Next, she turned to icon painting. In many courses she has worked in this art and then created wonderful works in countless working hours.

Quote:

"Painting or writing icons is, on the one hand, the challenge of the technical side, which requires a large number of work steps and a certain dexterity; on the other hand, it is the theme of the icon itself, a pre-given representation that leaves no room for one's own will to create. Icon painting is more of a meditative than a creative activity. "

In the 1980s, Margret took a job in the debt service of the city of Lucerne and taught as a specialist teacher in technical and pictorial forms. She really liked her students. She has always been full of enthusiasm for the creativity, commitment and enthusiasm of children and young people.  Especially in the last decades, painting has become their special passion. She has formed and developed further in various techniques. For example, she regularly attended courses at the School of Painting, Drawing and Design in Lucerne.

In her home-made studio, beautiful watercolors and also impressive oil paintings were created. The separation with the design of three-dimensional images with special materials such as e.g. Sand was another challenge for them.

Mala stays they took to Venice and Greece. She was very proud to show her work at openings and exhibitions and thus to gain a certain fame as a painter.

In April 2007, she traveled to Namibia with her niece for two weeks. The unbelievably impressive landscape and wildlife was then processed by Margret with impressive colors in her images.

Margret was a positive, agile person. She was very communicative and extremely helpful. Age-related health restrictions did not have much significance in their lives.

To the surprise of her relatives and friends, Margret visited the cantonal hospital Lucerne at the beginning of February. Unfortunately, she could not go home. On February 28, 2021, she finally fell asleep peacefully.

Claudio Cassano

Claudio Cassano, was born in 1968 and lives and works in Brugg.

He has been processing various types of metal into artistic objects since 1988. It is precisely with the combination of warm light and cold metal that he creates, in spite of the ostensible opposites, imaginative, harmonious light and luminous sculptures. This creates atmospheric works that fascinate the viewer again and again.

Claudio Cassano is a metal worker, carpenter, designer, artist. For him the transition is seamless, everything comes under the concept of art. He has an open eye for extraordinary craftsmanship, collects old blacksmithing and complements found elements with his own creations made of metal.

Window heads, which he unscrews from old shutters and reuses in his sculptures as originals or as processed casts made of various materials, are guardian angels for the artist; but through the staging of the artist they show the artist's humor and often refer to the nature of the people with a twinkle in their eye.

Claudio Cassano lives his passion; he is always enthusiastic about exciting projects and live performances. He is also co-founder of the Artbar culture festival, which took place in Brugg for 10 years, the Kunststanzerei Baden exhibition, which was organized for the second time in 2014, and co-initiator of the scrap yard festival that takes place every two years in Brugg on the Bingisser site. After an exhibition in Saas Fee in Valais, he took over the Ka Art gallery in 2011, which he ran with his partner, Regula Zimmerli, until the end of 2014. The decision was made and they celebrated the opening of the IMMAGINAZIONE gallery last October, as the move from his studio to the new rooms at Aarauerstrasse 96a in Brugg offered the opportunity to run a gallery. In addition to various art exhibitions, the gallery has become a popular aperitif meeting point every Thursday from 3:30 p.m. under the motto “Encounters, Art and Being”.

 SUSI KRAMER

Multimedia artist

Born in Oberhof AG in 1947, ateliers in Oberhof, Paris and Cannes.

Susi Kramer has been exhibiting her paintings and sculptures in Switzerland, Europe and Asia since 1979.

In 1994 the artist expanded her work with acrylic glass sculptures. In a brilliant way the transparent medium reflects the artist's work and thinking in layers.  She created her own universe on our planet. It's these colors, the Fantasy and poetic ease with which it touches us and a different point of view of reality is revealed.

Susi Kramer: “I cannot imagine a life without color.  It is my breath. ”The painter finds inspiration for her work in everyday life and wherever she is. But above all in nature, with which she is intensely connected.

SYLVIA HEUSER and MUNDY NUSSBAUMER

March 20 - May 2, 2021

OPENING HOURS

Saturdays and Sundays

1:00 to 6:00 pm

SYLVIA HEUSER

Born on October 13, 1964, I live and work in Sissach.

Since the age of 18 I have been studying oil and acrylic painting as an autodidact. At the same time, I continued my education at the Basel School of Design as well as with well-known artists in painting, drawing and sculptural design.

As a freelance artist, I have been exhibiting regularly since 1999. I take part in art exhibitions and sculpture trails and repeatedly initiate large-scale projects and community work. The exchange and work with other artists as well as with people from different areas of work is essential for my personal and artistic development.

MUNDY NUSSBAUMER

Mundy Nussbaumer grew up in Erstfeld, between steep mountains, the steel rails of the large Erstfeld marshalling yard and the site of the Erstfeld Celtic treasure. The solid professional training as a metal construction fitter allows Mundy Nussbaumer to give free rein to his ideas of forms from the mostly unruly materials steel, aluminum and, in earlier work, concrete.

He added the broad horizon of the Middle East and Africa to his place of birth in the narrow valley early on. After completing his training at the Lucerne School of Design in the fine arts department, Mundy Nussbaumer works as a freelance designer in Lucerne and Altdorf.

As a lecturer at the Lucerne School of Design, he counts on the students following the search for artistic expression with a file, chisel, saw, press or welding torch from within.

Mundy Nussbaumer drives this vision. He captures the moment in photographs when a camera is at hand. He is interested in the form initiated by sight or thought and removes the essential from the whole. Sketches what particularly impresses him on a stone dump, a rear light or lying dough sticks. Someone has shaped them with strength or with ease. A reservoir for art.
